Sports and exercise have a certain ability to bring out the best and worst emotions in all of us and no matter if you are competing at the highest level, or against yourself, I am sure you can understand the highs and lows associated with it.  The picture accompanying this story is of purplepatch professional triathlete, Matt Lieto, as he runs the final yards to the finish line at the 2008 Hawaii

Interview from Xtri.com!!

While many of us are quite familiar with Chris Lieto, his brother Matt might not be as well known...yet!

Fat to Fit

I am sitting on a plane on the way to Kailua Kona, Hawaii, where I will be competing in the 2008 Ironman World Championship. Living in Bend, Oregon suggests that I get to Kona 2 weeks early to get acclimated to the heat and humidity not to mention that it will allow me to spend some quality time with my brother and some friends who are also doing the race.

The day started with the congregation of what I like to call team K-Swiss/Vervloet around the coffee machine like a pack of wolves. Myself, Aaron Scheidies, Jacque McKenzie, Erik Vervloet, and Jen Vervloet all needed a little inspiration from the “Black Gold” this morning with the 4:30 alarm buzz.

So it has been 2 weeks since my Ironman, and my main focus has been anything but triathlon. I spent last weekend being the best man at my friends Marshall and Marieka’s long awaited wedding. It was a four-day dude ranch extravaganza, and had an absolute blast. Good times.

IM Canada '08

So here it goes, it has been 2 full years since I started an Ironman and 4 years since my first and fastest at IM CDA in 2004. So I had a lot that I wanted to improve upon, and a bit of nerves since it had been so long since I had done the distance.

I Should Stick to Triathlon!!!

So on Saturday I did my first real “ski race”. I put ski race in parentheses because I am not sure you can call what I do skiing, and you certainly cannot call it racing. So anyway, I agreed to race the “Great Nordeen” with my good friend Lea, as just a long day, not so much a race.
